The History of John Teets Dial

John Teets Dial was born on October 5, 1885, in what is now called Johnstown, Pennsylvania. His father, Levi, was a farmer and his mother, Martha, was a homemaker. As a young man, Dial worked on his family’s farm and attended school through the eighth grade. In 1904, at the age of 19, he moved to Pittsburgh to find work.

After the war, Dial returned to Cloverdale and married Hattie Sheppard on December 24, 1919. They had three children together. Dial worked as a farmer and also operated a sawmill. He was active in the community, serving on the school board and as a member of the American Legion post in Cloverdale.

Dial died on October 31, 1961 at his home in Cloverdale. He is buried at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Cloverdale.
