Dennis Troper is one of the most revered and respected composers of our time. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards, and has won two (for “The Dead Poets Society” and “Beauty and the Beast”). His compositions have been performed by such renowned orchestras as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Troper was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1941. After graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in mathematics, he began to compose music. In 1968, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. There he met John Caird, an executive at Columbia Pictures who became his mentor.
